Astronomy.SG v2.0

I have been working on a new version for Astronomy.SG, a website I developed sometime ago as a contribution for the International Year of Astronomy 2009.

It’s version 2.0, and is codenamed Celestial.

I don’t know, it’s kinda like to first name that came to mind when I looked at the design as a whole.

So, a little sneak peek!

Design aside, functionality will also improve greatly.

I’m not so sure yet, but it will likely include a Photo Gallery, tighter Newsletter integration, complete Blog integration, Store, and updates and write-ups about events.

And in my mind, the direction I hope to take for Astronomy.SG is to develop it into an organisation of some sort, sometime in the future.

It won’t be anything like TASOS, SingAstro or even MP Astro, but just a small circle of people who serve the community actively. We will organise overseas stargazing expeditions cheaply, overlook the participation in Astronomy Olympiads and maybe have a national publicity event annually.

Of course, all these are just plans on paper for now.

Let’s just see how it all works out.
