If Days are as Long as Venus’

Neglecting this blog has become some sort of a hobby for me. I could go on with a rant with how busy life is but all that really does is make myself sound like a Singaporean student, which is really sad indeed.

But look what I’m in for,

Shell Science Fair - 12th, 19th, 20th, 22th and 23th May.
AstroFest - 17th May.
IYA Meeting (tentative) - 19th May.
Bowling Celebration Buffet Lunch - 29th May
Bowling CCA-Initiated CIP (Bowling clinic? Friendlies?) - Sometime in June
Bowling Study Chalet (WTF?) - Sometime in June
CCA Peak Season Recovery Programme - Just about too many days to mention
Vacation to Europe - 25th May to 20th June
+++Random tests and extra lessons here and there.

Which basically burns up all time from now all the way through the holidays.

Looks like I’m gonna have to skip all the bowling stuffages, arghh.

And I need to come up with plans for NUS-NTU AstroChallenge, not gonna leave the team just like that. And also, hand over.

Quite Possibly the Final One

Alright, a bit more on bowling before it all ends.

For our results at A Div, we bowlers were given a day off on Friday. But somehow I doubt that it’s the results that matter, but the effort we put it, because we had the same day off last year when we finished 3rd and 2nd for boys and girls respectively.

So, what better way than to spend the school day at Orchard, watching Ironman, having lunch and all. And having to return to school because there’s Astronomy Society meeting.

Effectively summarised my week as:

Monday - Bowling
Tuesday - Math Test and Bowling
Wednesday - First day I actually attended school, and being Wednesday, it’s a short day
Thursday - Labour Day
Friday - Day Off

So right now, I am roughly one week behind where I was before this week, which was already way behind the tutorials’ and lectures’ pace.

On the same day, we made an appearance on the papers in the most pathetic fashion.

Like who the hell even understands that?

While an article on the left implicitly suggests the gigantic failure that is the Singapore Sports School, along with yet-another-photo-of-RGS-winning-B-Div-BBall, we were just thrown a column with the results all cramped together. Nope, not even a photo.

And Elvin was like, “They interviewed us for 15-minutes, made us do a full two pages interview and nothing of it comes out!”

But I guess that’s all right, because today’s Masters events are another reason to celebrate.

We claimed the top individual spot for girls and boys, with Victoria and Elvin winning in their category respectively. Chng Kiat also picked up 2nd for boys, and in doing so, pushed down Ben Lim from ACS(I) to 3rd.

Bowling A Div Masters:

Boys
1st - Elvin (ACJC)
2nd - Chng Kiat (ACJC)
3rd - Ben (ACSI)

Girls
1st - Victoria (ACJC)
2nd - Clara (SAJC)
3rd - Amanda (RJC)

This is where I also learnt that Chng Kiat and Ben had a perfect game each last year.

And not to end off with an anticlimax, here’s a revised and much improved version of the ACJC Bowling 2008 video. Made by our captain, Kenneth :)

A DIVISION NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

Posted by HELiX

Yesterday saw the 15th National Schools Tenpin Bowling Championships 2008 conclude with the prize presentation for Singles, Doubles and Quartets.

ACJC Boys - 1st, YEAH NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!

ACJC Girls - 2nd, but they’re winners all the same :)

It was a really emotional moment of some, for our school’s boys finally clinched the championship after 3 straight years of losing to SAJC.

It was also the first time, for all of us I believe, to have a good look at the Challenge Trophy.

Ah, there I saw the true meaning of a legacy. Something BP Astro had, but doesn’t come close to this.

1994 - ITE West Clementi (I think)
1995 - Singapore Polytechnic
1996 - Anglo-Chinese Junior College
1997 - Anglo-Chinese Junior College
1998 - Anglo-Chinese Junior College
1999 - Anglo-Chinese Junior College
2000 - Anglo-Chinese Junior College

2001 - Catholic Junior College
2002 - TJC? Or was it VJC? Or some other school.
2003 - Anglo-Chinese Junior College
2004 - Anglo-Chinese Junior College

2005 - Saint Andrew’s Junior College
2006 - Saint Andrew’s Junior College
2007 - Saint Andrew’s Junior College
2008 - ANGLO-CHINESE JUNIOR COLLEGE

The girls team played well, but couldn’t break the domination by Edlyn of SSS RJC. Let’s just say… she practically swept all the Gold awards for the girls side?

For for the last game in the quartets, watching the RJ girls team bowl was the most intimidating. All 4 of them suddenly hit their peak form and started striking like nobody’s business. I believe they ended that game with a total pinfall of 875, which would beat most of the teams in the boys league.

“Some girls here bowl like guys.” So true.

In the end, it was a repeat of last year’s result, with the girls’ title going to RJC, 2nd ACJC, 3rd SAJC.

While the girls put up an impressive fight, the boys… well… uhh… gah, just see for yourself.

Would have swept all the trophies for top 2 placings (at least) in every single event, but Ben Lim from our brother school just had to poke around.

NATIONAL CHAMPIONS 2008.

And the school anthem.

After bowling our hearts out (not literally, dumbass), putting all our time and effort into 4-times-a-week trainings, and even bleeding for the game…

We took away more than half of the trophies available. And our trophy count is at least 4 times any other school’s.

Just looooook at the number of trophies. M-M-M-M-MMMONSTER KILL!

Next up, it’s the Masters series on Saturday, where the top 10 boys and girls bowlers compete out in the most tensing atmosphere. It’s all for individual glory now.

With 7 out of 10 spots in the Masters for boys, I think we can declare it to be ’school team training with 3 visitors’ XD
