LAB@HOME LATEST COMPLETED PROJECT

Jacob's Ladder - A Jacob’s Ladder is the type of high voltage “climbing arc” display seen in many old (and usually bad) Sci-Fi movies. Jacob’s Ladder come in all shapes, styles, and sizes.

NOTICE

On the 19th of September 2007, HELiXATED.COM was taken offline due to... I should say, disciplinary issues concerning the owner. Almost exactly a month after the incident, I have decided to revive this blog in its all-new glory. Relevant changes had to be made.

An account registration system has been implemented. While public posts will still be made, more private and sensitive issues require an account to view. Registration is simple. Just refer to the... stuffs, on the left. Upon registering, I'll have to approve your account based first. I'll only accept people who I know, friends of people who I know, and friends of friends of people who I know... and that's pretty much everyone. Eh.

Oh and one more thing. This is a disclaimer that everything and anything mentioned on this blog COMPLETELY does not reflect the opinion of the owner. All characters and events described in this blog are fictional. The ideas and characters are the figments of my imagination, and any resemblance to real life people, either living or dead, is purely coincidental. Don't believe in anything.

Unless, of course, I tell you to do so.

Cheers!

Into IOAA

It’s 1.10am, my flight’s at 5.30am, and I gotta leave my house at 4.15am. Which means I have to wake up at 3.30am, and if I rush, I’ll get to sleep at 1.30am, giving me 2 hours of sleep… GRAH.

Or I could think… An astronomer doesn’t need sleep.  Or much sleep, at least.

I’m flying off for Chang Mai, Thailand, tomorrow for the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics. I’m carrying the pride of 10 national-level Golds into a competition where I might fly home empty handed. I have no idea what to expect.

It’s, afterall, the 1st IOAA + celebration of Thailand’s King and Princess birthdays.

See you guys when I get back! If there’s internet at Uniserv (where I’m staying), I’ll update here.

For the small dedicated group of Singapore astronomers who made my life amazing for the past 5 years.

Homophobia in Games?

So we know 377a is here to stay (along with narrow mindedness and bigotry), but…

I’m Ageing

I know it’s already Nov 27 but… hell, take it as Nov 26.

Yet another year has gone by. There’s quite a few anniversaries to celebrate these few days. Couldn’t find the time to do a blog entry, so here goes, all at one go.

There we are again. Derek’s getting old. Getting too old for how immature he is. Peter Pan had it easy.

So that’s right. As of 26 Nov 2007, Derek’s 17. Way old. This is the age when Rooney was already making headlines worldwide and seriously, what the hell is he doing now?

Umm… just… Thanks to everyone who remembered :D

Nothing much to blog about today. I’m getting old. The cake isn’t a lie. I’m getting old. No birthday presents as of yet. And I’m getting old.

In a few years time, when I’m out of this rigid Singapore education system, past National Service and… free. I’ll get hold of my life. Make sense of it. I mean… hey, people at my age in Portugal are being stalked by Manchester United.

Not that I’m interested to go pro in soccer but 17’s a dangerous number for a person who hopes to achieve much in life like me.

That’s right… that’s right. No birthday bashes ‘cos I didn’t meet up with anyone. Mainly because I was at home playing with my…

HTC TyTN II.

Awesome stuff. Almost a year ago I bought my Dopod D810, another awesome stuff, but it’s time to upgrade. I didn’t want to, actually. But my Dad insisted to leave the Singtel roadshow place with something. Some I’ve kept up with my trend of changing my phone once every year.

Sec 1 - Some colour display phone which got stolen. In SCHOOL.
Sec 2 - Nokia 3650
Sec 3 - Motorola E680
Sec 4 - Nokia 6680
J1 - Dopod D810
J2 - HTC TyTN II

COOL EH.

And I can’t believe my parents have already prepared a free camera-less phone for my time in NS. So that trend will continue into NS.

25 Nov marks the anniversary of my domain, helixated.com.

A year ago I decided to disprove that ‘Geeks Cannot Be Popular’.

Actually I wanted to do more than just blogging. Hosting files, photos, and my Lab rubbish. So I needed a website, not a blog.

After a year, it’s conclusive that a domain with lab experiments make you more popular. Seems like it didn’t meet the targeted crowd, though. I have mostly fanboys but girls who think I’m crazy. Damn.

Next year I may start on a Barbie Doll section to lure the intended crowd.

Through the whole of today y’all would probably have encountered this screen when visiting my blog.

Bleh. My domain was freaking PARKED.

I thought I renewed it weeks ago, but apparently, I read wrong. But it’s up and good again.

Hope everyone’s enjoying their holidays! Cheers!

Rock Paper Scissors

We all have been playing the game wrongly all these while…

papercantwin.jpg

Either that or someone woke up on the wrong side of bed, possibly listening to Linkin Park.
