It’s the last day of school and…

Grah, what’s this I’m feeling?

Okay screw this emo post. Screw this.

What the Pikachu

Remember… HELiXATED.COM version 3 was to be more pornographic than ever before?

Let’s make some sense of what this picture is trying to tell us.

My innocent take:

Blog Problems and O Levels

Posted by HELiX

Seems like there’s a few issues I gotta fix with my blog. With version 3, I made a lot of changes in the, uh, coding and plugins of the Wordpress system. Apparently, now I have:

1) No working RSS feeds.

2) …Okay actually it’s just that.

And I’ve found a better method to do private posts. You’ll only get to see this working if you’re logged out.

Hah! You'll have to Login or Register to read the hidden content that's behind this!

In other news, good luck to all the secondary 4s not smart to be in an IP school at PSLE, so you suckers are taking your O LEVELS NOW. HAHA.

Oh yes, I feel your pain.

All the best anyway! Mugging fatigue sets in after 1 week, don’t forget to push yourselves even harder after 1 week. Only Kok-like people survives through without experiencing a change.

Orionids Star Party

Posted by HELiX

I’ll slowly catch up on whatever I should have blogged in the past one month, but COULDN’T. And it only makes sense to backtrack from now, because it’s the most relevant.

So let me try. Any bad jokes, lame comments and inaccuracies can be blamed on the loss of my blogging skills. Really.

Alright, Orionids Star Party was like… yesterday- or two days ago. I mean, it was overnight, and ate into the next day… so… whatever.

BUT IT WAS FANTASTIC. Kinda.

And so with KB’s advice of not turning up for the afternoon activities (I appreciate that, BTW), I… did just that. ACAS (Anglo-Chinese Astronomy Society, BTW) decided to turn up… late. Decided time was 6.30pm at Woodlands MRT.

But because of…

And…

We met at 6.45pm, fashionably late as always :)

And then I was given the heads up that the free food at Republic Poly sucks, so after some lengthy discussion, we decided to eat at Causeway Point before heading over.

Somehow, we ended up at KFC.

And blah, we ate, took bus, reached RP, found our way around and got into the free transport to East Coast Park. Then… I actually found the bus ride fun. I don’t know. I was trying to get high because I needed endorphins to survive the night.

At this point it is worthy to note that there were ACJC, ACSi (one guy only actually), HCI (ditto ACSi), RGS, BP, NYP, RP, NJC, PJC and maybe more. Quite a good turn out, compared to AstroFest.

Reached ECP. Went into Burger King, visited the toilet to discover cheap LAN shop and arcade, and Kok decided to lose some weight before meeting Jovina. to play DDR and O2 Jam first. Some others rented bikes for the entire night.

This narrative style is so damn boring. Even I, the author, is darn bored.

But anyway, we moved into our observation site. The place was kinda new to me, cos the only other time I had stargazing at ECP was at the Pier… something. And the closest food, er, place was at McDonald’s, 15 mins away.

This time was some clearing in front of… another pier. Much closer to civilization.

We settled down there. Had some interaction games to kill time. Worked for a while but the games just got dry and disorganised. Proceeded to chit-chat session, then ghost-story-telling session, and I got really bored. Sorry :/

So when the other guys came back with frisbee, I just left with them. We did some lame passing in a dimly-litted area. And apparently, Dallan stepped back into a… bat. But let’s just assume it was already injured on the ground because after the bat shrieked, it was… injured. Uh. We stopped frisbee in an attempt to guide it away from our play area to a tree. Poor fella, his wings got owned.

And the sky cleared just in time when the bat reached a tree to climb up. I’d bet it was his fault. Stupid bat…

I hijacked NJC 4-inch scope, but the 5 mins I was given wasn’t even enough for me to align the finderscope. And Anne took over, only to fail, too :P

Got bored quickly and found a GREAT opportunity to leave. Sat down at BK with some others there, talked until 2am when BK close.

Going back to the ob site was somewhat a bad idea, so picked up SW there for a looooong talk.

And I was like… looking up at the sky? It came to a point where I decided, “OKAY SERIOUSLY, THIS IS DAMN GOOD SKY. TALK KOK MORE AND WE’LL WASTE THIS STAR PARTY AWAY” and we lay down on the grass.

Meteor gazing was perfect, among the bestest conditions for Singapore:

1) It was 3-4am, the peak timing of meteors. Because the rotation is going directly against the movement of the meteors and… uh, nevermind.

2) Orion was near the zenith. Least light pollution (:

3) And also, being near the zenith, it was easy to meteor gaze lying down. It’s like… no need to tilt head!

And Kok became the ultimate Talk-Kok Guy. Within 1 minute… “I see one! … … … TWO! REALLY! WAH LAO DAMN NICE SIA! … … … I think I saw a THIRD! NICE!” or something to the effect of that.

And I’m like, “Eh Kok. This is Orionids. In the most perfect, perfect sky conditions, it should peak at 60 per hour. That’s 1 per minute on average… and plus the fact that it’s Singapore…”

And he restarted count to 1 :D

But still, he saw 3 in the end of our meteor gazing, and I saw only 1 =___= Clouds moved in and we… went to McDonald’s.

From there, it was just talking and a cool variant of Big 2. Where we had the [1337]bastard, b1tch, commoner, queen and king[/1337]. I sucked. Became the [1337]bastard[/1337] for half the time, but rose up to [1337]king[/1337] at the end of the star party :)

And that was already 10am.

Then it is wise to assume we headed home directly, minus Kok’s attempting at burning off the night’s meal.

This post is so wordy. I hate wordy posts.

New Banner to Stay?

Okay, two people complained about the new banner’s background, and the perfectionist in me thinks that is enough to make a serious poll.

And so here we have it…

RELAUNCH 21.10.07

Posted by HELiX

And so we’ve come to the re-opening of HELiXATED.COM which currently stands at version 3. It’s such a big pity I can’t phrase the opening statement of this post in a more suitable language and tone.

My apologies to any who are disappointed by the lack of changes made, as compared from version 1 to version 2. But other than the slightly noticeable change in layout and banner background, the security features and other weird cool minor details stuffs are the major add ons. I mean, who doesn’t want to know how many words I’ve typed in all my entries so far? It’s good stuff, you see.

Ah crap, after 1 month of hiatus, I think I lost my blogging skills. I’m humorless, contentless and uncreative. Fine, More than ever before. And besides, I’ll need to watch out for whatever I’m mentioning here.

More entries will come up soon enough. I’ve got much things to say, and the past 1 month has been the probably most incredibly eventful month in my life. It’s a mixture of greatness and misery.

Thank you everyone for showing your support (or objection). Sorry for the sudden removal of HELiXATED.COM from your daily web browsing life. It’s back, and it’s back for good to stay. Hopefully.

Because sometimes, all I have left is hope
