Ever seen those inspirational posters?
Sold conveniently at countless stationary shops including Popular, this particular series of posters are found in many schools and institutions, often to fill up empty walls and notice boards.
Perhaps they should introduce a new one; It’ll be a hit.
Please take a careful look at the image below. What do you see? Darth Vader refilling a bottle by filtering it with a water filter. Ok, he’s there, refilling a container full of seawater. Now what?

Crap.
It’s 12th July; An entire week late.
But that’s alright I guess, 7 days isn’t too long, and I insist that I blog about it now just in case I might not be around anymore tomorrow because… TOMORROW’S FRIDAY THE THIRTEEN ):
Dear readers,
LIKE ZOMG WTH I MADE IT THROUGH HOW COULD IT HAPPEN OMG I BET I HACKED- Um, it’s my blog’s first anniversary.
…
Let’s try it again.
MY BLOG’S INTO ITS FIRST ANNIVERSARY!!!11111 onehundredandeleven111
This places me in the region of Noob Blogger With Just One Year of Experience.
It began on 5th July, a year ago.
Details are sketchy, but I firmly believe that I was forced (or severely encouraged) by astro juniors.
Memory is merely a record… You just need to rewrite that record… What isn’t remembered never happened… says: lol me and hannah already voted for u to get a blog
::Miss Saigon:: | Haru-chan! | Ice cream Assasination Mission™ says: Ahahahah add another!
∞ {?????ånå³} Who needs a virus when ur spammed with homework? says: I vote, I vote yuanyuan should get a blog!!!
::Miss Saigon:: | Haru-chan! | Ice cream Assasination Mission™ says: =)
::Miss Saigon:: | Haru-chan! | Ice cream Assasination Mission™ says: I vote Derfk to get a blog!
dereklow.exe™ | HEL¡X says: ……….
HAH.
5th July, 1 day after US’s independence day, saw me doing this with a ridiculously poor attitude:
Uh. Okay. After some 2 days of tedious photoshopping, flashing and HTMLing, the blog’s layout seems to be working fine… with lots of bugs though. Debugging will prolly take another few more hours, and I just don’t have that kinda patience. Right, so… just live with this buggy layout for now, and flame it for all I care.
From: http://www.helixated.com/2006/07/05/its-up/
And the first proper post, a few days later on 9th July, about the World Cup. (Actually I do believe I have some entries before that, like about the Flag Day… Uh nevermind. Perhaps it was lost when I was transferred from blogspot to here.)
Blogging wasn’t easy to start for me. XJ and Shaun had the ‘thing’ against bloggers, with Shaun going on to coin the term ‘gay blogger’, adding to his collection of ‘rugby gay’, ‘jupitar’, ‘cell membarne’, ’self-destuck’ and most recently, ‘hormonially’ and ‘yestarday’. We’re talking about a DSTA Scholar here.
Umm, so, I started off my blog very… quietly… AND IN NO FREAKIN’ TIME AT ALL THE WHOLE ASTRO KNOWS =___=
Many months later, I went public.
25th Nov, I moved to this domain to set myself apart from the rest. Pretty much like The Geek and The Others. HELiXATED.COM was born. Lab@Home too. And because people like to see other people’s house set on fire, over the past few months I’ve gained a tiny legion of fanboys when it was intended for fangirls.
Here I am, the blog’s a year old, 14000 Hits, considering that I went public only towards the end of the year… it’s pretty decent.
Have fun. And have a cookie.

It’s here again. The World Cyber Games, where, y’know, you get to win prizes and earn money for having fun playing video games.
For the 3rd year running, they left out my playable games, Unreal Tournament, Quake, Doom; So I ain’t joining :(
This is the point where you laugh at XJ, DW and Kok for playing CS so competitively but never attempted to join a semi-professional competition where there’s money involved. But they’re forgiven after you learn that Shaun trains his RTS gaming skills at a compettive level not for joining competitions at all, but so that he can say ‘i’m noob? 1v1 warcraft 3 then."
And at this point I also must acknowledge Jeremy Lim of AJC, for introducing me to the pro gaming scene 3 years ago and thereby screwing my grades. But respect man, he just won 1st in some random RTS competition recently, walked away with a $800 hamper. I never really believed that BP students could game at national level and win something.

WCG 2008 Singapore/Asia is held on the 2nd-5th August… you can just read for yourself.
WCG 2008 Singapore should feature all the official games.
While WCG 2008 Asia is the single lamest gaming competition in the history of lamest gaming competitions.
Let’s examine why:
(1) The selected games are, FIFA 2007, DOA4, Warcraft III, AOE 3 and the second biggest sin, DOTA.
(2) The biggest sin belongs to the exclusion of CS. Like, WTF?
(3) A possibly-big-but-not-quite-although-still-quite-big sin is that South Korea and China are invited. Those are where the top gamers in the world are from. Also, CHINA. Get the link? Sinophobia…
So we make predictions. Predictions of the best gamers in the country, and in the region. In the general public’s impression, they are the kids who stay at home all day and gamed their lives away. This is true for… CS, unfortunately. Not too sure about the other games, but UT had a Singapore champion who was from RI (and hence, RJC). D’oh. And he won $16,000 from gaming in 4 years.
Team Zenith of SIngapore will, once again, pick up 1st for Nationals and Regionals DOTA. WHY? Because no other country has gamers lame enough to play DOTA at a competitive level.
The stubborn inclusion of DOTA still remains a mystery. It’s an idiot game made for Singaporeans who love DOTA so much. Why? A theory goes that Singaporeans are MMORPG whores. Modify an awesome game (Warcraft III) with RPG elements, and you’ve got an awesome game for Singapore. Another theory goes that Singaporeans love Warcraft, but can’t play Warcraft, so they play a noober mod. A third school of thought suggest that this is just a large-scale domination plan by King Lee and PAP.
Clan LegO will be after me.

Found this test to calculate your online celebrity status and determine if you’re as famous online as you think you are.
Caution: This may ruin your day.
—
Your online identity score is 2.3 out of a possible score of 10.
You are digitally disguised. There is absolutely nothing about you on the Web. Some people think that if you don’t show up in Google, you don’t exist. Read Chapters 10 and 11 in Career Distinction to learn why your online identity is important and how to build your brand in bits and bytes. <SPAM>We also recommend working with a Reach Personal Brand Strategist who is also online identity certified to improve your online identity. What a wonderful date.
It’s 07/07/07 my dear friends. As with every year since 01/01/01, many people chose to have their weddings on these kinda days. Then it makes me wonder what were those people thinking when they tied the knot on 06/06/06, like speak of the devil.
Speaking of speak of the devil, I came across this, which was so hilarious:
<TRG> so, my mom was putting in her CD with church pics but it wouldn’t work on her computer
<TRG> so she put it in mine
<TRG> now, the last thing I watched on windows media player was hardcore lesbian porn
<TRG> that got into the action right away
<TRG> so my mom puts in the cd into my computer
<TRG> opens up windows media players
<TRG> and the porn starts playing
<TRG> and when I realized what was happening I was like "oh fuck"
<TRG> but then…
<TRG> she goes berserk
<TRG> she was screaming "THIS CD HAS BEEN POSSESSED BY THE DEVIL!!"
<TRG> and she took out a HAMMER
<TRG> and smashed the fucking CD
<TRG> it was the best thing ever
<TRG> not only was I completely off the hook
<TRG> you have to love the awesome displays of religious apeshit
<TRG> I think if god existed, he put people like my mom on this earth to entertain us
LOL. Not that I’m trying to imply anything, but… I can’t imagine that. And the last line? Priceless.
And we have this funny programme going on around the world, Live Earth. Some… concerts with the environment in mind. True, our environment is getting screwed badly by the day — cars exhausting carbon emissions, factories churning out acidic gases, and cows belching — but after reading the Environmental GP Package, I can’t help but wonder whether it could be true that this environmental crisis is just a natural process? I mean, through the past 65 million years we have gone through mass extinction, ice age and the birth of George W. Bush. It’s quite inevitable that someday, sometime in the future, we gonna get screwed again by mama nature. Am I right or right?
Other than these, nothing much for this very special date. Until next time (which should be around tomorrow), enjoy the precious weekend!

H1 A Levels Chinese Orals was today and it was really an experience.
I was last in my group. Yup, that’s right, the guy all the way at the back of the queue, who will be left alone in quarantine waiting for his turn while everyone finishes their orals and heads home. And yup, that’s when the examiners are excruciatingly bored and just wanna get the last guy over and done with.
And it was really cold. And lonely.
But it paid off nearing my turn, when there’s a couple of people left in quarantine, then this girl had her convo with the teacher sufficiently loud enough for the group of us to pick up some keywords. Hah, we knew the convo topic beforehand.
I fumbled at reading, like I always do. Convo was… pretty alright, just that I felt as tho I was repeating myself.
Gotta start on my JUNE HOLIDAY homework now. Ciao.
shz: Well, it certainly is....eye-catching.
HELiX: Testing!
