About time I blogged about it huh?
Watched The Simpsons Movie a couple of days ago, and it really mattered because this is a show which I probably spent more time watching it than sleeping. 400 episodes, 18 seasons, 23 Emmy Awards, 20 years, longest running American sitcom and animated series, $5 billion in revenue, you get where I’m going.
I am utterly embarrassed to annouce that I still haven’t watched 3 seasons of it because they took it off the Internet. Damn FOX Network!
The Simpsons Movie was just what every episode of Simpsons should be like. Hilarious and- Simpson-nish.
I could probably tell you how awesome it was to see Itchy/Hillary winning the 2008 elections, or how the spider pig came into existence, or how Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth turned into An Irritating Truth, but it just doesn’t work like this. You gotta watch it!
But-but-buuut the movie isn’t without the issues that a true Simpsons fan would dislike, like:
Why the hell is so many scenes in 3D? Or rather, 2.5D? It’s supposed to be all… untextured 2D drawings.
The credits were wrong! Maggie’s first words were ‘Daddy’, at the end of some episode about how Homer trying to get her to call him Daddy (’cos Bart calls him "Homer" like LOL).
There were many D’oh’s, many Why-You-Little’s, many HA-HA’s, but that’s about all the catchphrases they used. No Aye-Carumba’s, no Excellent’s, and other familiar stuffs.
The 87 minutes length isn’t exactly long enough to do justice to 18 seasons of Simpsons, and I actually preferred if they didn’t linger on the environment theme because (a) Live Earth is over (b) they had environmental themes in some episodes before!
But all-in-all it’s still awesomely hilarious, and a must-watch because you ought to be a Simpsons fan if you [most likey] aren’t!
