NOTICE
On the 19th of September 2007, HELiXATED.COM was taken offline due to... I should say, disciplinary issues concerning the owner. Almost exactly a month after the incident, I have decided to revive this blog
in its all-new glory. Relevant changes had to be made.
An account registration system has been implemented. While public posts will still be made, more private and sensitive issues
require an account to view. Registration is simple. Just refer to the... stuffs, on the left. Upon registering, I'll have to approve your account based first. I'll only accept people who I know, friends of people who I know, and friends of friends of people who I know... and that's pretty much everyone. Eh.
Oh and one more thing. This is a disclaimer that everything and anything mentioned on this blog
COMPLETELY does not reflect the opinion of the owner. All characters and events
described in this blog are fictional. The ideas and characters are
the figments of my imagination, and any resemblance to real life people, either
living or dead, is purely coincidental. Don't believe in anything.
Unless, of course, I tell you to do so.
Cheers!

My blog (hits carried over from Blogspot) has smashed the 10K Hits mark!!!
Font size 36, I think that’s a first?
…
And for such an astounding record, I present to y’all, my dearest readers…
Nothing.
Yes, I’m so sorry. I have prepared nothing.
Okay okay. Fine. There’s AC’s Science Week coming up, I’ll try to get the Tesla Coil ready by then, although it’s quite an impossibility since that it’s only 2 weeks away. And of course, I also doubt 1) I’ll be able to bring it in school 2) The school would approve of a apparatus shooting out multi-million voltage electrical streamers.
…
Also, I’ve just discovered that many people link me when I don’t know them, and even, when they don’t even know me at all. I don’t know. Incoming links says it all.

Ah well.
Yet another long-awaited weekend is over just like that.
A start of a new week, more common tests, more homework, and yeah, the usual stuffs.
Am I the only one who feels that SPhO is wasting our time?
It’s pretty difficult to quit, too, considering that DK is in-charge of my NUS Attachment. Hm.

I’m back!
Cool. A week without any entry.
What? Does it look like I’m free?
…
Fine. Perhaps =/
Well, let’s just say that the week has been like every other week, with me achieving…
Nothing.
And this uneventfulness pains me, given that I can’t find material to blog about.
So I shall find little interesting bits to interest you guys.
HEH.
Let’s start with Wednesdays.
Wednesdays were formerly my only free day of the week. And then by miserably good fortune, I got into the ACJC-NUS Science Research Attachment Programme. Pretty good I guess, considering only 2 of us got in. Along with many who were already in SRP/NRP. And there goes my Wednesdays.
I met my Professor mentor 2 weeks ago. Nice guy, but he’s kinda lazy to help us. He has already 7 research teams under him from various schools, which kinda made me unhappy. Man, I feel like a selfish ass.
Ya so anyways, he suggested this project to us. He specialises in nanotech, so it gotta be nanotech.
It’s something about geckos. The lizards. Only recently, it has been discovered that they stick on the ceilings, walls, etc by Van der Waal’s forces. They have really, really tiny nano structured hairs on their feets. Flexible too, enabling the hair to come into maximum contact with a surface.
So, simply, we’re supposed to repeat that using carbon nanotubes. Biomimetics, uh huh.
Cool eh? Just that another research group in the US has been working on the project with a US$400,000 grant from the National Science Foundation.
So I tried it.

Just say it’s cool.
Well, that’s just a rather unprofessional start. I’ve got the entire year to work on it, going back there every Wednesday and pretty much most of my holidays.
Yup, that’s all.
Next? Eh. Congrats to Soe Min for getting pass the first round for selection into Council!! Just left the elections now, before you officially sold your soul to Council… for negative $5.
Meh, this sucks, I lost my blogging momentum.
Well, just make do with this first ‘kay? Ergh.

Damn the Title.
I can’t make sense of things anymore.
Let’s talk about CCAs. Their achievements, to be exact.
Congrats to AC’s sports teams, from rugby to squash to cross-country and many others, for winning in their matches in their Division. 81-0 to SRJC in rugby, whoa.
AC’s performing arts too. The various SYFs. Indian dance got Silver, I didn’t quite make any sense of that achievement until I was told it’s their debut as a CCA. And some other CCA in AC got Gold with Honours today or perhaps a day or two ago, but I didn’t quite catch it.
Maybe even BP. BPCO and Choir with their Silvers. NPCC with their Gold.
Congratulations to all, indeed.
Because today, what I witnessed was utterly atrocious.
For four years in BP Astro, I stood proud of the fact that we’ve never walked home empty handed from any competition. Meaning, 1st to 3rd, at the very least. And trust me, it isn’t all that easy. I still remember how I was on the verge of a mental breakdown at last year’s NYP Astro Comp when I expected a 2nd or less. I was ready to give my leadership up, go home, and cry for ruining 5 consecutive Golds. It was by a miracle, that it didn’t have to go to that extent.
Today was this year’s NYP Astro Comp. One that was far more important to win than the previous ones, mainly because we had to pick ourselves up after losing Astrigue, and also, the prize was a telescope.
After school, I rushed to NYP and managed to catch half of the final round.
They were fine. Getting top for the first round. 3rd for the second round. It’s fine. Not great, but fine.
Then came the most terrible performance I’ve ever seen. I sat there in my seat, stunned as we proceeded into the zone-of-negative-points.
What the hell man.
Tactics were screwed, the knowledge wasn’t there, and everything was simply… wrong.
For starters, we didn’t get 2nd, which would have been unacceptable but nevertheless, a good try. 3rd would be on the verge on insanity, but still sane. 4th is ZOMGWTFBBQ. 5th is when I ran out of vocabulary to describe the situation any further. And 6th is what we got.
I felt comfort in my AC uniform.
I don’t blame anyone. I don’t want to. It might be because of a person or two or even the whole team, but it’s the best of the worst. If you can get a better team, be my guest.
All I can do now is to make sure things are run the way they are supposed to be. I do take some of the blame too. I didn’t train my juniors well, leaving them for this inevitable fate.
I’m going back to make things right. It’s 10 years since BPST was founded, very timely for Yongli to return.
Death and rebirth.
