Almost no one will understand much of this entry, sadly, because I’m only aware of 2 other people who actually played and completed F.E.A.R. In fact, I only know a handful of people who play and COMPLETED single player games. WHAT’S WITH YOU PEOPLE AND MAPLE AND DOTA?
Anyways, so over the past few days, I put myself through all the terrible frights and scares to complete F.E.A.R. And I did.

But it totally sucks.
Okok, I gotta admit, F.E.A.R. was good. Decent and unique storyline, incredible physics, uber AI, etc, it’s no wonder why it won the Best Game at E3 2005, received 92% rating and Editor’s Choice Award at PC Gamer.
The expansion pack, which I waited rather long for, can be simply summarised effectively as such:
*SPOILER*
At the end of FEAR, you were rescued from the Origin facility by the helicopter right? And at the last moment, Alma got on. It ended there.
Extraction Point begins with Alma crashing the copter with her uber powers, and now you’re stuck in the city.
The guy and lady, SFOD-D operatives, who were on the copter, were separated from you.
Your first objective? Meet up with the guy.

With that done, I followed him around finding the lady. And he died soon enough, leaving me to meet up with the lady alone. Crappy superior…
I went through…

Met up with Alma a couple of times… She’s actually killing the enemies for me.
This guy was ambushing me. Alma didn’t like that.

He ended up something like…

Ya, so, when I met up with the lady, guess what? She died, WOW SO UNEXPECTED HUH.
So I had to make my way up to extraction point, the roof of a hospital, alone, to be picked up by yet another helicopter. Don’t they ever learn?
I got there, fought my way through, reached, and the enemies blew up the copter. Ah great, just what I needed. A crappy ending. Yup, it ended there.
An easier summary:
1) Meet up with guy. He dies.
2) Meet up with lady. She dies, too.
3) Go to extraction point. Helicopter waiting there, dies, too.
Here’s showing off FEAR’s physics and graphics engine. Really WTF cool.

Not the most incredible game out there now, but it’s still cool! But the original FEAR was muuuuch better.
Now… what should I play? Rainbow Six Vegas?

After 2-3 days, I’ve finally gave up hope on my hard disks. My main hard disk’s data was recoverable, taking an entire day, but my other hard disk… the computer can’t even detect it. Grr. So… there goes all my downloaded videos. But I can live with that I guess…
So because my secondary hard disk is totally screwed, I asked my Dad for a new one. He gave me a new 160GB one and added this one to a stack of hard disks going to be sent for repair. And I was like, WTF?! There’s 4 hard disks, right now, in my house, spoilt. No, they ain’t old cheapass hard disks. They’re all 160GB ones. Apparently, my house has… at least 19 hard disks distributed among the computers, my brother has 4 in his, I have 2, and so on. And out of these, I have 4 of the largest ones spoilt. Here’s a pic:

It might be a coincidence, but all of them are Hitachi. But I can’t concluded that Hitachi is a crap hard disk manufacturer yet because all the 160GBs in my house are Hitachi.
Alright. Enough of misery. The bright side of it? With my entire Windows installation wiped out, I decided to install WINDOWS VISTA. Yes, you read that right. Windows Vista. <3 Aero glass.

But but- There’s A LOT A LOT of compatibility issues. Some of the drivers made for WinXP and under didn’t work for Vista, like my laser printer, so I can’t use it for now. And I think one of the main purpose of Windows Vista is to kill off Microsoft’s biggest rival, Google. They included their own version of just about everything Google is famous for. Like, the default home page in IE7 is their Live.com, a complete ripoff of Google’s clean-and-simple home page. I had to use IE7 for awhile before I downloaded Firefox, and after I played around quite a bit, I realised it was another ripoff from Firefox itself. However, all those rumours I heard about IE7 being unable to download Firefox… were untrue. It worked fine for me.

Windows Vista also included this… Sidebar. Yup, the ripoff of Google Desktop. It’s an EXACT ripoff. Basically, they’re rendering Google unless now, but heck, being the Google fanboy that I am, I installed Google Desktop anyway.

Right right… then I also installed Office 2007, but who cares.

Yesterday I had the first argument with my Dad in a looong time.
Y’know, those kind of arguments whereby he insists, possibly shout, and you’ll just completely ignore him.
It happened that I asked him about the subject combination I was going to take in JC. I wanted, Math, Physics, Computing and Economics. He wanted, and insisted, Chemistry in place of Computing.
That’s taking away the subject I love and also, my free A.
He went on to lecture me on how universities courses didn’t give a damn about Computing, but I told him Chemistry was only considered by universities for courses such as medicine, chemical engineering, etc, basically courses I have no interest in.
And he went on again about how I was limiting my career choices, and how I should not screw myself up like that.
But c’mon. I know what I wanna do in the future next time. My dad’s afraid that I might screw Physics up (which I damn well won’t) and require Chemistry to backup.
Heck, I’m sure as hell taking Computing. I’ve waited 6 years to take that.

My computer has two hard drives. Two 160GB ones in SATAII.
It happened that a few days ago, three I think, my secondary hard drive crashed.
Stuffs like that happens all the time if you’re me, running the computer 13 hours a day through the holidays.
But since it was my secondary hard drive, I didn’t care. I mean, who would? But anyways, I kinda figured that the file system crashed and got erased.
Ahh, now, I was playing F.E.A.R. Extraction Point this afternoon, and the computer crashed on me. It just hanged. I restarted. It wouldn’t boot into Windows. I ran Windows XP Recovery Console, and apparently, the file system is corrupted. Now why is that so familiar?
Yeah, my computer killed two hard drives in 3 days, in the exact same manner. I’m now like, recovering the lost files from my main hard drive, and because its 160GB, it’s taking 5 hours. And after spending 10 hours recovering both hard drive, I have to REINSTALL Windows and EVERY SINGLE OF THE MANY MANY PROGRAMS I had, a task which never, ever, failed to piss me off.
Grr.
…
JC life is sooo much more reasonable. You can like, use your handphone anywhere, wear your own shoes, and a lot of other stuffs which seemed totally pointless to have rules to enforce back in secondary school.
After skipping 3 lectures, we left for BP nearby to see the condition of the, erm, new old school.
I won’t really comment about the school, because everyone feels the same I think.
Cool enough, the sec 1s have mass dance in their orientation this year!
Yeah so we visited, and left. Yup.

The holidays are almost over, that’s sad.
School’s starting, that’s depressing.
But the most excruciatingly disappointing thought is this:
The release date of the O Levels results looms nearer.
No, I do NOT think I will do badly. I didn’t exactly do my best, but I think it’ll be alright, suffice for my non-results-oriented attitude. So what you ask?
I’ve heard this from a number of people, so it should be true.
Let’s just say… I owe the school money, lots of it. Really. A lot. Mind-bogglingly a lot. Not so rich anymore, ay?
Well, being the 4th child, I got my Edusave only at sec 1 or 2. It came to me virtually empty. So I thought, heck, let’s just use it. And so I paid for just about everything through my empty edusave and after 3 years of unsuccessful deductions, I owe the school… about… say, no… not $100, not $200…. it’s closer to $600. YEA SCREW OBS.
They sent me a few mails to pay up, but my dad was like, “LOL. Ah heck.”
Apparently, what I heard was that, the school won’t give you your O Level cert unless you pay up. They will ask your form teacher to redirect you to the office, have your parent to come over and pay, then only they’ll give you your cert. Which, I find, is utterly embarrassing and painful as while everyone’s got their cert, you’re there like, OWING THE SCHOOL MONEH.
Also, the EAGLES Award I got this year? $150? LOL My dad says it’ll go to paying this crap.
And the bursary I was offered in sec 3? It got withdrawn because I live in a private property. What the-
Man, I thought Singaporeans’ poor accounting abilities could allow me to get away with it.
shz: Well, it certainly is....eye-catching.
