The infrared camera’s completed! I thought I would never get it done because I kept encountering a lot of miserable problems in the construction, and did silly stuffs like electrocuting myself twice more today.
But well, it’s done!
First, sample pictures:

As you can see, the infrared light of the remote control, though not visible to the human eye, is seen shining very brightly using the infrared camera.
Anyways, read the full report here!

Oh yeah.
STUPID *NNGH* ELECTROLYTIC CAPACITOR.
Not only are you a big mouthful to flame, but you electrocuted me 1… 2… 957383635… NO, 3 times! YESSHH THREE FREAKIN’ TIMES.
I left you for three days without a battery to power you, and yet, you still have so much @#$% power left in the @#$% you.
320V, so? 3 days without power left you with @#$% little power.
HAAA-HAAA! Didn’t kill me.
…
Uh hm. Sorry y’all.
Well, this little… fat… thing. The electrolytic capacitor. Of my camera. Tried to kill me. 3 times.
Anyway, I completed assembling the infrared camera, but seems like my visible light filters are too thick. Now I need to dissect the camera and redo the whole f-
…
OHH SHIT.
Now that I powered up my camera and tested it, the capacitor ^%#* thing is @#$& fully stored with @#$% power.
And how the hell am I supposed to open it again and redo the whole damn thing again without risking death?
Ahh for your enjoyment, have a look at the murderer:

Had some fun today at Orchard, but actually, Orchard is a damn boring place if you aren’t good at shopping.
And obviously I aren’t.
Right so anyways, I came home and decided to play around more lab work before I leave for overseas next week. Most of my projects so far are partially completed, but that’s the way projects are I guess. I mean, I’m missing materials here and there, and without them, I can’t really do much.
Ok today I decided to dissect the most expensive gadget I have dissected so far… A digital camera.
The objective is to modify a normal digital camera available in the consumer market, and use it to capture infrared (IR) light. Infrared light is capable to passing through many thin materials such as clothing (I ain’t thinking dirty, really!) and is not detectable by the human eye. It is proportional to the temperature of the object, so generally, the hotter an object is, the more infrared light it gives off. I think.
It’s partially completed (again) so far, but I hope I can finish it by tonight!
Anyways, here’s the progress so far.

I finally took some time off (from playing and enjoying myself) and tried to port over to Wordpress from Blogger. And it worked damn well.
So long Blogger suckers! Wahahaha!
Well, I had to learn some PHP scripts language, and I screwed around with their template such that although a Wordpress template is usually made up of more than 10 files, I made use of only 4.
And then I imported all my posts from Blogger to Wordpress, not an easy feat much thanks to Blogger. But well, it’s done and here they are! Reeeeaaallyyyyy cool. Makes me wonder, why the heck are people using Blogger? =X
…
And guess what? My dad agreed to get me the Dopod D810, a PDA Phone priced at $1298! I kept bugging him I wanted it ASAP, buuut he insisted that he’ll get it this saturday or later. UGH! Meanwhile, I’ll drool over it in pictures:

Today I spent some time to do more lab work, and settled on making a Gaming Soap.
What soap you ask?
Soap is a pointing device based on hardware found in a mouse, yet works in mid-air. Soap consists of an optical sensor device moving freely inside a hull made of fabric. As the user applies pressure from the outside, the optical sensor moves independent from the hull. The optical sensor perceives this relative motion and reports it as position input. Soap offers many of the benefits of optical mice, such as high-accuracy sensing.
Oh, and it’s under development by Microsoft Research, so it’s quite something if you aren’t convinced.
So yup, I started my construction of a gaming soap, and at the end of the day, I maanged to get the internal electronics done, so here’s the progress so far!

Hmm, this is part of an attempt to blog daily… So here goes.
Well, anyways, I’m trying out different blogging softwares. I’m currently using Blogger with FTP support, which allows me to host the blog it on my own domain, but it seriously sucks. Like, to post an entry, I gotta login to Blogger via their website, and do basically everything through their website. I do believe Blogger users know how troublesome Blogger Beta is, and their incredibly slow speed at times. I’m only using it because it’s extremely user friendly and operates in HTML.
There are other blogging softwares that I could use for my domain, like Wordpress which most domain bloggers use, but the template design is frustrating difficult. Instead of HTML, they use PHP, which I totally can’t code in that language. How difficult you ask? Well, their template alone is made up of 10 individual files; one for the Banner/Header, another for the Sidebar, another for the Main Content, etc etc etc.
But I guess, I gotta start learning PHP soon as Blogger is seriously screwing up big. Also, Wordpress is hosted locally on my domain, so all the entries are posted right from my website itself =D
…
Ok, next.

*Drools*
Doooopoooood.
*Drools*
C’mon! Just look at that! Although it doesn’t have a slideout keyboard and microSD slot, I think it already over qualify for a student’s needs.
Official price without plan? $1298. D’oh!

Hmm hmm I’m doing this entry ‘cos I made a ridiculous deal that ended in me at a total disadvantage. Whee!
Well, I finally got rid of the O Level books in my house, after being passed down from 3 siblings to me. So yup, you can imagine the stuffs piled up each year.
How bad you ask?
…
In other news, I’ve managed to persuade my dad that I didn’t want a Nokia N80, so what happens now is that the $50 Nokia voucher he has is going waste and I’m extremely guilty. Um.
But well, I THINK, my Dopod is coming soon! Okay, I’ve already told him I’m interested, blah blah blah, he says it’s fine if I get it, but because there’s supposed to be 5 new models of Dopod PDA phones coming out end of november (but hasn’t), I’m draaaaagging the purchase to hope that the release of the 5 new models would either allow me to buy a different (and better) model, or get the same model at a cheaper price. Hm yup.
…
Other than that, I’m seriously bored and thinking of doing a few more geek stuffs before my overseas trip to… eh, Guangzhou I think. But as far as I know, my parents haven’t confirmed any details so… Hm.
Well well, I’m thinking of either doing an infrared camera, or work on my telescope, or even, over the next few weeks and very possibly months, a tesla coil. But it all depends whether I can get off my butt and travel the entire Singapore searching for old electronics.
shz: Well, it certainly is....eye-catching.
HELiX: Testing!
