After many days at it (I lost track), I’ve finally decided to go ahead and publish my new theme for the website.

So right now, you’re looking and laughing at version four.

I have this theory that the older I get, the more I like kiddy, colourful stuff.

Sadly, much of the new pages I intended to add are not ready. But I promise I’ll get them done this time!

ACJC Prom Night 2008

After deleting the photos which do not qualify as photos, I’m left with 220 from last night’s Prom.

And, like everyone else, I’ve uploaded most of them on Facebook. Not all, because some shots are only meant to be seen by me. Hee-hee.

While doing so, I realised that Facebook has rendered the Gallery section of my website pretty useless. I’ll consider getting rid of it.

So, here they are! In different sets because a Facebook album is only allowed to contain a maximum of 60 photos or else it will explode.

Anyway, just to bring you guys through last night - ACJC’s Senior’s Night 2008!

We paid $98 for this event.

So, all Proms have a theme. Ours, as decided by the Student Councillors, was Glitterati.

Oh yes, Glitterati, dammit.

In French, it means people who are very fashionable, glamorous and are of the social elites.

In English, it means a stupid distasteful name for Prom.

Scaled down to prevent your eyes from burning out.

A few hours before Prom, we invaded Bing Jian’s house which was conveniently close to the Shangri-La Hotel.

It was fun.

They may be watching porn. Just sayin’.

So after taking a quick shower, waiting around and dressing up, we left in cabs to the Shang.

Fast forwarding all the waiting and photowhoring to go around, we settled down at our tables.

We had a few goodies laid out in front of us. There was a useless fake ACJC card, a useless ACJC keychain and a useless Seniors Night badge.

To top it off, we also had an envelope each. Coolness. Opening it…

Yay! 50% discount off a bouquet on Valentine’s Day. Quite far away, but okay! Yay! Finally I can afford to take someone out on V-Day! <3

But then…

My romantic aspirations were instantly crushed by the expired voucher. Thanks, Shangri-La!

And after all that was done, the night’s programme begun. We had speeches, performances and awards. Like duh.

Like, for example, we had a lot of songs.

Elvin and his buddy’s song was perhaps the only one totally worth watching.

The magician who we wished he could make himself disappear.

Meanwhile, the food came. I sit in a table with some of the hungriest beasts.

Mr ACJC, in other words Prom King, turned out to be Kenneth Lee.

Miss ACJC, in other words Prom Queen, turned out to be Kelly. She was actually predicted to win Mr ACJC.

And the Walking Dictionary of the Year awards goes to Aditya Singh. I won’t make a joke here because I know you’re reading this.

People went around photowhoring and all because that’s what Prom is mainly about.

And that’s all for Prom, really.

Because the real party and fun starts only later. We call it, Post-Prom.

So, some really smart people decided to organise an Post-Prom party for everyone. They arranged with a club to hold the party specially for the school and it worked out pretty neatly.

Much thanks of the councillor’s naming of the Prom, the Post-Prom party also carried an awfully similar name.

After Prom, a few shuttle buses came to pick us all up to head over to Howl At The Moon.

This is where the photos end because I left my camera with Bing Jian for him to leave at his house as he went back to drop some stuffs before heading to the club.

This was my first time clubbing actually, because I JUST TURNED 18 A WEEK AGO. Fortunately.

It took some getting used to, but once you’re in, it’s crazy with fun.

The entry to the club also comes with a free drink, which I asked for “anything”. I ended up with some tonic

Perhaps it was a little cramped with a few hundred students trying to fit into a club, so the dancing was full of sweaty-shirts bumping around and stepping on each other’s shoes. I stuck with Soe Min and Zong Ping, and we ended up being pushed to the side… and to the front… and we ended up on the raised platform in front where everyone can see us clearly.

But still, fun!

We went on and on for an hour and a half, until 2.30am, when Bing Jian and the rest decided they had enough of watching us have fun and pulled us out. Meh. We were going to spend the night at Bing Jian’s place, so we had to leave when they wanted to leave.

So we stepped out the club into the silence of the night.

It was weird. We instantly went partially deaf. Our ears were too tuned to the loudness of the music at the dance floor.

And as we made our way down the steps, we tried to talk to each other and ended up, unknowningly, shouting at each other. Wei Rong walked past and asked me whether I was drunk. D’oh!

That pretty much sums all Prom Night. Photos are still flowing in from the others who slept through the day after last night’s events.

Moved

After a year in a Malaysian KL server, I’ve decided to move back my web host to Singapore. The higher speed was the main factor. This move was made despite the strong and highly unsound opinion of the audience.

Also, I registered a new domain to point to my website. It isn’t anywhere as cheap as a normal domain, but I thought that I’d better take it up first before someone else does.

I wanted to launch a new site design together with the change of web host, but I’ve been behind schedule from the busy days I’ve been having. I’ll try to get it up within the next few days though.

Just a little sneak peek for now. The new design is named Helixated.com Version 4: Web 2.0 Edition, so you can infer some ideas from there. It’s codenamed Blue, which was the main factor guiding its theme.

Other than looking much more cooler and pleasant than the current one, a couple of pages will also be added. For once, you can expect an About Me page.

Post Lasik Follow-Up

A day after the first surgery of my life, I had to go for a check-up to review the results of my surgery. The results vary from person to person. Generally, 95% of lasik patients will obtain a eyesight better than or equal to 6/12.

Turned out to be pretty good actually.

A staff tested my eyes and found both to be 6/4.2.

Now, generally, a 6/6 eyesight is accepted to be perfect vision. As your vision gets worse, the second number increases. A 6/12 eyesight is the bare minimum needed to drive legally.

And somehow, I managed a 6/4.2 in both eyes. This means that I managed to read the line of letters which was smaller than what a person with a 6/6 perfect vision can.

Which in the doctor’s words, “You have an eyesight better than perfect.”

LOL. Win.
